Sherry and her Cookies

Hello Everyone.... It's Sherry and her cookies again.

Originally, my plan was to do another cookie sale for Valentine's Day. However, a recent AP article has prompted me to amend my plans. This article is about people in Haiti who can no longer afford food. Their solution is dirt cookies: cookies made from dirt, vegetable oil and salt.

The amendment to the plan...

I will take orders for cookies from now through March 14, 2008. The cookies will be $3.85/dozen and the choices will be oatmeal, oatmeal raisin, and chocolate chip. You can email your orders or donations can also be made at the Summerville Presbyterian Church office.

I will then send a portion of the proceeds from the cookie sales to Haiti, with the mission group going to Haiti on March 21, 2008. This money will be delivered to Bill Nathan, director of St Joseph's Home for Boys. Bill is originally from Hinche, one of the places mentioned in the article. Bill is familiar with the area and will be able to use the funds to give the people a hand up, instead of just a hand out.
