Lenten Music Series
The Worship and Music Division of the Summerville Presbyterian Church
presents a Lenten Music Series on selected Monday evenings during Lent. The public is most cordially invited to attend and enjoy these exciting programs.
First offering, Monday February 25th at 7:00pm
We will begin with an Organ Dedication performed by concert artist, Cj Sambach, on the pipe organ at Summerville Presbyterian Church, 407 South Laurel Street, Summerville; He is dedicated to winning the public to an appreciation for the King of Instruments. Come and hear a performer who will entertain you with an enjoyable program on the organ! Please do not hesitate to bring your young ones (recommending 8 and older). This is a program the entire family will enjoy, and a great opportunity to provide your youngsters with an excellent cultural experience.
Second offering, Monday March 3rd at 7:00pm
The Presbyterian College Choir and the PC Ringers will be singing and ringing at Summerville Presbyterian Church, 407 South Laurel Street, Summerville. The PC Choir is directed by Dr. Porter Stokes, Chair of the Department of Music. The concert will be entirely sacred. Repertoire includes motets, anthems, spirituals and sacred songs. An emphasis on sacred music is a central element to all the department's programs and is particularly evident in the repertoire of the PC Choir. Also featured during the concert is PC's advanced handbell choir, the PC Ringers. Directed by Dr. Ron Davis, this ensemble, now in its seventh year of existence, will perform works by many of America's leading bell composers and arrangers. The PC Ringers play on a 5-octave set of Malmark handbells and 5-octave set of Malmark choirchimes. This is also a program that the entire family will enjoy.
Third offering, Monday March 17th at 7:00pm
The Music of the Seasons, 407 South Laurel Street, Summerville. The concert will include all of the different musicians of the church. Brass ensemble, string ensemble, handbells, Children's Choir, Youth Choir, Crazy for Christ, and solos on piano and piano and organ duets. Come and celebrate the season and make it a family activity.
